The 50s entered the century fast and loud. Post war America was booming with a promising future of exploration and experimentation. Rock and roll music exploded the music scene, giving teenagers a powerful soundtrack to wild creative lifestyles. 

Custom hot rod cars and loud Harley Davidson Motorcycles added danger to the developing anti-mainstream subculture. Attitude became lifestyle, and the anti-hero rebel transformed into a mainstream icon. 

Fueled by alcohol, cigarettes and guitar riffs, there was no hitting the brakes for authority and rules. A permanent change was shaping the trajectory of this new generation and permanently affecting those to come. 

The 1950s saw sunglasses established as the must have accessory. Embodying the same shape as eye glasses but possessing darker tints and heavier frames. Also known for the emergence of cat-eye sunglasses heavily popularized by movie stars of the day.  

50s creators were set to influence future styles. The innovators of the 50s were unleashed. We might look at these timeless styles and traditions as classic, but at this hour it took extreme independence to flip society the bird and in doing so crafting their DECADE.

The purple haze of the 60s spawned a phenomenon of independent wild and unique creators. A DECADE that cultivated a subculture from every walk of life, while instigating a genuine originality found at every level. 

The 60s messages of unity, anti-war, free love, captivated the heart of a young rebel generation. Wildly experimenting with sex, drugs and rock and roll these elements consumed the minds of many and redefined freedom.

Vibrant colors, wild patterns and obscure shapes found their home in the style of the 1960s. Defying popular opinions and decency, these characteristics fueled the style uprising taking place. The popularity of oversized frames, dark lenses, pastel colors and psychedelic design became a sensation. The wild style of the DECADE ignited by experimental living permanently shaped its style and expression. 

The glam and fast times of the 70s exposed a new twist to style and culture. Attitude and fashion forced a new identity into bold expression and loud individualism. Hippie culture became widespread and packed music festivals preaching love and peace shook mainstream society to its core.

Music once again became the loud speaker for a new generation of youth and outcasts. The anti-war and anti- establishment movement held no responsibility to codes of conduct or dress, living their lives wild and free. 

Sunglasses during the 70s became a badge of honor, identifying a time when being different wasn’t just accepted, but celebrated. Becoming more than fashion, but the identity and spirit of DECADE.
